why do I need a building permit?

All commercial projects built in the United States are required to obtain building permits from the local building department prior to construction. This permitting process can be the most frustrating part of the design and construction process, as neither you, the architect or the general contractor has control over the timelines of the agencies reviewing your project.

Even with that sobering news, starting construction without the proper permits can lead to an even bigger mess. You can be fined and your construction put on hold until the permits are obtained. Below are different ways to get your permits depending on your particular situation and the amount of time you can personally invest in it. Let us do it all for you or be brave and do it yourself.

Save countless hours of precious time that you can use elsewhere. We review all the requirements of the local agencies so when your plans are complete, we can take over from there, helping you carry out the entire permitting process in an orderly fashion.

Want a more hands on approach?  We have given you a head start. We have direct city links for every building department in a US city over 5,000 population. Your city isn't on the list? Just ask and we will add it for you within 24 hours and let you know when it is there.
